This antique sterling napkin ring is by J. S.. Macdonald, a fine Baltimore silversmith who worked around 1900. A handsome scrolled cartouche has a monogram in elegant script. The cartouche is framed by lush repousse ferns. The remainder of the napkin ring is filled with beautifully executed flowers and leaves. On the bottom border is the word, "sterling", and " J. S. Macdonald". The napkin ring is in excellent condition. The opening diameter is 1.75 inches and the width is also 1.75 inches. The weight is 40.7 grams or 1.44 ounces..
