This unusual antique American sterling napkin ring is made with a leaf shaped base. The detail is quite remarkable as the many veins of the leaf are visible in individual detail. The maker is Whiting, one of the outstanding American silversmiths of the nineteenth century. On the bottom is Whiting's mark, the word sterling, and the number 290, a pattern number. The distance across the leaf base is 2.75 inches at the widest point and the height is 2 inches. It weighs 1.4 ounces on a postal scale. The ring is in outstanding condition. You will not likely see another sterling napkin ring like this one.
