Surrounding this antique Gorham sterling napkin ring is a peaceful scene, including birds, mountains, a lake, and plants. The name "Sadie" in inscribed on the ring and below the name is a swimming duck. Nearby a bird flies over the lake and there are birds in the distant background. Mountains form a backdrop for the lake and the bank with plants and grasses. There is a most interesting applied irregular border on the top of the napkin ring. On the interior we find the three standard marks for Gorham (lion, anchor, G) and the word "sterling" as well as the pattern number 1541 and the date letter, indicating the ring was made in 1882. The diameter of the opening is 1 7/8 inches and the width is 1 3/4 inches. The napkin ring is in excellent condition.
