Gorham Manufacturing Company, founded in 1831 in Providence, Rhode Island, made this Pond Lily sterling napkin ring. The striking applied bands of sinuous leaves and blooms showcase the beautiful workmanship of one of America's premier silversmiths. This ring is inscribed "Ma", so it must have been a treasured gift. There are a couple of extremely minor use marks. Inside the napkin ring are the Gorham marks: lion, anchor, "G", "sterling" and "3208", a pattern number. The napkin ring is 1 3/4" in diameter and 1 1/2" tall. It weighs 42.3 grams or 1.49 ounces and is in outstanding condition.
