This wonderful sterling repousse napkin ring is from England. The English silversmiths have a long history of producing silver works of art featuring winged cherubs. This napkin ring is a good example. It has a full set of English hallmarks, showing that it was made in London in 1901. The maker's mark WC is also shown. This is the mark of William Comyns and Sons. The napkin ring has a diameter opening of 2 inches and a width of 1.5 inches. It weighs 1.2 ounces on a postal scale, a nice heavy weight for repousse work. There are three cartouches around the ring inside each of which is a different portrayal of a winged cherub. In addition there is detailed floral work to complement the images. The napkin ring has been lovingly treated and is in beautiful condition.
