Here is a beautiful example of an antique sterling napkin ring by Gorham, one of America's premier silver manufacturers. It is a large and quite heavy ring, typical of the late nineteenth century when it was produced. Inside we find the three standard marks for Gorham, the word "sterling", and the number "1860", a pattern number. We also find a symbol for the year indicating that the napkin ring was made in 1896. The ring is monogrammed in handsome script. The diameter of the ring is 1.75 inches and the width (or height) is also 1.75 inches. It weighs 1.6 ounces on an accurate postal scale. This is a handsome napkin ring.
