This lovely antique reticulated napkin ring is from Germany by a fine silversmith. The napkin ring is very heavy--more than 50% heavier than the typical napkin ring. It is marked "800" since the German "silver" standard is 80% silver rather than the 92.5% standard for sterling. The napkin ring is 1.75 inches across the opening and 1.5 inches wide. Despite the reticulation it is quite heavy at 1.5 ounces. The work is extremely well done and the ring is in excellent condition. The engraved monogram "LN" appear in one of the cartouches. In another cartouche (see last picture) the 800 mark can be seen as well as a maker's mark which I have not identified. This is a beautiful ring for an elegant napkin.
