This is one of the finest antique American sterling napkin rings you could hope to find. It is repousse work in a rose pattern, characteristic of the Baltimore silversmiths. The marks are worn down by time and difficult to make out but it is possible (see last picture) to read the maker's mark of S. Kirk & Son. The word "sterling" is on the exterior. Just a glance is enough to tell that this napkin ring was made by an outstanding silversmith. The diameter of the opening is right at 2 inches and the width is 1.5 inches. It is a substantial ring, weighing in at 1.9 ounces on an accurate postal scale.
