This fantastic American sterling silver mug by Tiffany has come to be called the "Children's Parade". The band around the center shows children marching and celebrating with instruments and toys of all varieties. The work in the silver is magnificent. The detailed band goes all the way around. so it is difficult to show everything that is present. I have tried to do this with several close-ups. The height of the cup is 3 3/8 inches and the diameter is 2 3/4 inches. The weight of the mug is a full 8 ounces on a postal scale - one-half pound of sterling silver. The mark on the bottom, "T" was used between 1891 and 1902, following the Tiffany tradition of using the surname initial of the President of the company at the time the item was made. Note that the mug has inscribed on it the full name of its young owner: Arthur Harold Serrell. There is also a date (birthday?) of August 31, 1903, not long after the mug was made. This is probably the best sterling mug that Tiffany or any other company ever made. It is a credit to the ability of the silversmiths of that era long gone. The mug is in fine condition.
