A wide band featuring cattails and water lilies surrounds this antique Griffen, Smith & Hill (GSH) Etruscan majolica mug. Above the central band there are panels ending in scallops. The handle picks up the leafy motif in the center band. There is an appealing color palette: green, yellow, cream, gold, and brown. The mug has a nice shape ending in a recessed section edged with two narrow rings. On the bottom of the mug is a recessed illegible mark. The mug has a turquoise interior. We see a tight hairline that goes through and a little color fading on the inside. The height is 3.5 inches and the diameter opening is 2.75 inches. The distance across the top including the handle is 4 inches. Later pieces (1890's of Etruscan majolica) were often unmarked, But this pattern has been attributed to GSH.
