Whiting introduced their sterling pattern Lily of the Valley in 1885. It was considered a beautiful pattern from the outset and has been sought after ever since. This piece has the word sterling and remnants of the Whiting logo. This rare piece is individual asparagus tongs. The Lily of the Valley motif is on both sides of the tongs. These tongs have a distinctive shape - rectangles curved at the end. The rectangular sections are reticulated. The length is 4.5 inches and the weight is 25.2 grans or 0.9 ounce. The tongs are in excellent condition.
