This is an antique domed silverplate butter dish in two parts. The maker, as shown in the last photograph, is Homan Silver Plate Co. The dates that the company used the mark on this piece are 1896-1904. Although there is some wear to the bottom of the interior of the butter dish, the exterior silver plate is in excellent condition. The top is finished with a handsome finial, complemented by ridged handles on the butter dish. The base of the dome and the base of the dish are decorated with rich bands of flowers and leaves. The diameter of the butter dish from handle to handle is just over 9 inches; the diameter of the dome is 5 3/8 inches.
