This a complete five volume set of The History of Modern Europe by William Russell. The complete title reads as follows: The History of Modern Europe with an Account of the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire and a View of the Progress of Society From the Rise of the Modern Kingdoms to the Peace of Paris in 1763 in a Series of Letters From a Nobleman to His Son in Five Volumes. A New Edition Studiously Revised and Carefully Corrected. The publication date is 1805. The printer was Thomas Davison of Whitefriars. The dedication to the edition in 1786 reads as follows: To His Grace Francis, Duke of Bedford the Improved Edition of the History of Modern Europe is Respectfully Inscribed by His Grace's Most Humble and Obedient Servant (Gray's Inn May 29, 1786). The five volumes show foxing and some undulation of the pages. We think the books were rebound at some point in the distant past, as the full leather covers are in generally very good condition.
