Here is a lovely English sterling salt from the Georgian period. . The diameter of the opening is 2.25 inches and the height is 1.5 inches. There are 4 marks on the bottom (including the mark for sterling), shown in the last picture. These are not all easy to make out, but the salt dates from the late 1700's. All 3 legs and feet are in perfect condition. Indeed, there are no dents and no issues of any kind, remarkable for a piece of this age. It weighs exactly 2 ounces on an accurate postal scale. The salt is indeed an elegant little serving piece.
