Here is a prime example of English flow blue from the middle of the nineteenth century. The actual date is around 1840 because we know from an impressed mark on the back that the maker was J & G Alcock and this company was only in business from 1839 until 1846. The other part of the impressed mark is "Oriental Stone," which probably refers to the body. The actual pattern name is "Scione." The name is inside an oval on the back. The central decoration on the front features trees with a small building in the background. The diameter of the plate is 8.25 inches and the plate is in wonderful condition with no visible issues of any kind. Any color other than blue or white which appears in the pictures is due to light anomalies.
