Offered is a deep teal English transferware plate by Samuel Alcock. Each plate is 7 inches in diameter. In the center is a detailed scene of an Oriental port. Businessmen converse on the wharf in front of several cases. In the background is a Chinese junque and several pagodas and other buildings. The pattern name "Commerce" appears on the back. The maker's mark does not appear, but this is a well known pattern by Samuel Alcock during the period 1828-1859. Both plates are in excellent condition and without blemish.
