Offered is a trio of deep teal English transfer plates by Samuel Alcock. Each plates is 7 inches in diameter. In the center is a detailed scene of an Oriental port. Businessmen converse on the wharf in front of several cases. In the background is a Chinese junque and several pagodas and other buildings. The pattern name "Commerce" appears on the back. The maker's mark does not appear, but this is a well known pattern by Samuel Alcock during the period 1828-1859. All three plates are in excellent condition and without blemish as far as I can tell. Although most pictures focus on one plate for detail, the listing is for the three together. This pattern is pictured and discussed on pages 481-2 of the book Staffordshire by Petra Williams.
