Here is a fine old dark blue English transfer plate by Adams with a scene that I have not been able to identify. There is a large building next to a river, likely a mill, a boat in the foreground, and a wonderful floral border decoration made even more special by its asymmetric nature. The mark on the back clearly says "Adams Warranted Staffordshire" so there is no doubt as to the maker. Plates with the same border and complementary pastoral scenes date to the 1830's. If anyone can identify the scene, I would very much appreciate it. The plate is 9 inches in diameter. There is browning on the back but no chips or cracks, unusual for a plate of this age.
