"The Southern Cookbook of Fine Old Recipes" was copyrighted in 1939 by Culinary Arts Press, Reading, PA. It contains 322 mouthwatering recipes on 48 pages., and measures 6 by 9 inches. Accompanying these wonderful old recipes are graphics and slogans that would be considered racist and offensive today, but were the accepted norm in the 1930s. This copy has wooden covers, with the image of a Mammy cook carrying a turkey etched into the wood, and then hand painted. It has its 4, original, green celluloid rings. The covers are in excellent condition. The inside is clean, with no mold, foxing or odors. There is the expected yellowed edges of vintage paper, that you would expect. It appears to have been used very little. There is a hand written name on the front cover. A useable cookbook, filled with interesting, mouth watering food and drink recipes from the deep South. A wonderful addition to any collection of vintage cookbooks, or Black Americana.
