It's difficult to show in photos just what great condition this antique case is in. The covering is crushed velvet, with cream colored, embossed, celluloid detail. These are the same materials used on the far more common antique photo albums of the day. Those of you familiar with these old albums know that the velvet is often faded and has thin areas, and that the fragile, celluloid is often cracked. From the outside, this appears to be new. It measures 4 inches tall, by 8 inches wide, by 6 inches deep, with the hinged lid down. It has a small, metal clasp/latch on the front. Inside, the cream colored, satin lining is frayed in places and shows age wear. See photos. There is a full size mirror in the lid that has age wear from the backing, but no chips, or cracks. Included in the set is a straight razor that is marked, "Eagle", and, "Dennison Texas". It measures 9 inches long. The blade can use a cleaning, and I am sure a sharpening, too. The handle has a small indent on one side. The boar bristle shaving brush is is clean and thick. It has a wood handle, and measures 4&1/2 inches long. The lovely, porcelain shaving soap mug is 2 inches tall, by 3 inches in diameter, not including the handle. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, just very minor paint loss to the gold trim paint. The only mark is "44" on the bottom, which leads me to believe it was made in Germany, but I am not certain. A rare and desirable piece for your collection of vintage shaving items, or Victorian vanity items.
