This gorgeous piece is 17&1/2 inches tall, including the lid. It has a monogram, "Sternfahrt 1908". The base is nicely weighted for stability. I don't recognize the mark on the bottom, possibly German, but have included a close up photo of it. I don't know the history, but the top looks like it could be a mourning wreath, and with the monogram, it may have once contained ashes of a dearly departed member of the Sternfahrt family? Just a guess. It could have also been some sort of trophy. It is lightly tarnished.....I have not cleaned, or polished it. There appears to be very little wear to the silverplating. No dents or scratches. A beautiful piece.
I currently have several pieces of vintage and antique sterling and silver plated pieces in my shop, and am happy to combine shipping, when it is safe to do so. I will be adding more pieces over the next few days. To see them all, type, "silver plate", or, "sterling silver", in the California Girls search box at the top of the page.
If you are ordering more than 1 item from my shop, wait to pay until I send back an invoice with the combined shipping discount.
