Some time ago, I attended an antiques auction at a reputable auction house that specializes, in part, in vintage and antique, Native American items and artifacts. Although my knowledge in this field is limited, I am using, in part, their trusted, abbreviated descriptions....
This is a unique, hand woven basket that was described as, "Cherokee, North East Indian". The weaver used different textures and blue and red vegetable dye to give this basket a unique character. It also has a woven handle. It measures 5 inches tall, not including the handle, and 5 inches in diameter. It's in excellent condition, and clean inside. I am estimating that it dates somewhere between the 1960s-70s.
In the coming few weeks, I will be listing other baskets, jewelry and pottery pieces purchased at the same auction, so please check back with California Girls!
I currently have several pieces of vintage Native American pieces in my shop, including other pottery, and am happy to combine shipping, when it is safe to do so. To see them all, type, "Indian" in the California Girls search box at the top of this page
If you are ordering more than 1 item from my shop, wait to pay until I send back an invoice with the combined shipping discount.
