Gorgeous, intricate hand bead work on this large size American Indian whimsie, pin cushion, wall hanging. These were made from the mid 1800s to early 1900s by the Iroquois Indian tribe, primarily for the tourist market. It is a cushioned "pillow" that is covered on the front with velvet, and then heavily beaded with glass beads. This one is 10 inches tall (not including the fringe, or beaded hanger) by 9 inches at the widest point. There are a few beads missing from the fringe, and some stains on the fabric on the back, but overall very good condition. All original, as found.
