This is a WWI 1918 Service Revolver brown leather Holster marked 1918 WJD on the back side. The embossed "US" emblem is on the front as typical . The brass closing stud and reinforced leather 'eye' is excellent, firm and solid. The rivets are excellent strong and firm and no play, though there is a little verdigris on the brass rivets. The stitching is missing in about a 2-3 inch section along where the bottom of the barrel would rest but the holster retains its shape and the split is not gaped open as it is held together by the remaining stitching above and at the toe. See the photos taken from both sides with yellow card for exact location. Leather is supple without any cracking. The stitching could be repaired easily with vintage tread as the holes are still lined up or the holster would hold a gun and strap to a belt (belt not included) and be serviceable "as is". Not cleaned, not saddle soaped, not 'improved' exactly as found in grandfather's box of WWI stuff, wish I knew where he hid the revolver!
