I'm not an expert in the field of sad irons, so did some research. This is a small, antique iron, measuring about 4 inches long, and weighing about 1&1/4 pound. I've seen it described as a salesmen sample, a toy, or child's iron (although I can't imagine letting a child use such a thing!) and as an iron that was used for collars, and other delicate areas. It displays well, and the snap in place lever for the handle works perfectly. There is some surface rust on the bottom that I have not tried to clean. Circa 1900.
