This is a very interesting Tiffany monogrammed sterling case used for sewing according to the present owner. It belonged to her mother and bears the Tiffany & Co. hallmark for the time period with the L mark. It could hold needles, a thimble and the very small spools of thread as well. It measures 2" in height and 3/4" in diameter at the top and 1" at the bottom. The top has two circles of dots as a pattern as well as a small dent which appears black in the photos, probably from being dropped at some point. The interior of the cap shows this pattern as well and can be slightly felt as well. Though this woman's mother used it as a sewing case, perhaps it was meant for a different use as well, pills perhaps or lenses instead of glasses? I have no idea other than her mother used it as a sewing case when they traveled. The case weighs 21.7 grams on my jewelry scale. It would make a nice addition to a vintage sewing collection as that is what I was told it was used for, though a new owner certainly has many options for its use. Actually, it looks like a perfect shape for carrying Tums in your purse!
