Here is a very pretty Goldsmith Stern 14K ornate thimble from a Maine estate. It is signed with the company’s mark that was used from 1913 to 1933, 14K and a 9 or 6 for the size. The ornate scroll work in the design of this thimble is more consistent with the Edwardian era than the styles of the Art Deco era. In addition, thimbles showing this scrolled design of GS can be seen in “American Gold Thimbles” by the Philadelphia Thimble Society on page 39. The weight of the thimble on my jewelry scale is 4.5 grams. It is a beautiful 14K gold thimble in excellent condition with no issues, no damage and “totally in the round”. If you are a collector of gold thimbles, this one is an early thimble by Goldsmith Stern that would make a lovely addition to your gold thimble collection.
