Here is a wonderful 14K thimble from a Maine estate, a rare Carter Gough thimble in its original box. Carter Gough was one of the oldest jewelry manufacturers in New Jersey dating from 1841 to 1932. The thimble is marked as shown with the Carter Gough arrowhead and 14K mark. It is in excellent condition being protected over the years in its original John Wanamaker Philadelphia thimble box. It is a size 9 as shown in a photo and weighs 5.1 grams on my jewelry scale. The thimble is totally round with no damage anywhere and is inscribed "Bertha". There is also a hand written note on the bottom of the box for you to read as shown in a photo. If you collect gold thimbles, this is a rare one, especially having its original box. It will make a fine addition to your gold thimble collection or a gift for a special person who is a thimble or vintage sewing collector.
