This beautiful rosary is from France and so marked and beautifully made. The crucifix is hung on lovely faceted amethyst beads the largest of which measures 6mm while the smaller ones measure 4mm. The beads and links in the chain are matched in size and length. I have looked at the beads carefully and am going to say they are glass beads. This is for two reasons; the facets on the beads are not as sharp as I would expect had they been cut amethysts. In addition, the metal is not marked, and I have not tested it for sterling, though the front of the cross is oxidized which one often sees in sterling. There is a gold wash over the edges of the cross, over the Virgin Mary and the links of the chain. The total drop of the rosary is 17" with the chain measuring on each side about 12" to the Virgin Mary. The drop from the bottom of that to the bottom of the crucifix is 4 and 1/2". It is a beautiful rosary to add to your collection, extremely well made, French and hung with lovely amethyst beads. It is a Maine estate piece from Saco, Maine.
