This pretty vintage ring box dates from the 1940's to early 1950's when soldiers returning from WWII were anxious to become engaged to the "sweetheart" they left behind. This ring box attests to that by both the printed inscription inside the cover and the style of the ring box and the material used. Inside the cover it states "Her Majesty Diamond Rings dedicated to America's Sweetheart by Fidelity". The box is in excellent condition and has no odors. The exterior is green and black velvet with gold braiding at the top which becomes the clasp to close the box. Inside is a light yellow gridded material that appear to be a silk. In the bottom there is a green velvet heart to hold the ring. The box measures 2 1/2" by 2 1/4" with a height at the back of 1 1/2" The top is angled toward the front as shown in the photos. If you collect jewelry boxes, this ring box is a wonderful example of late Art Deco design coupled with the WWII era. In excellent condition it will make a great way to protect your vintage ring and a great display for your vanity.
