If September is your birthday and you love antique jewelry, then this pretty Edwardian or Victorian sapphire ring would make a nice addition to your fine jewelry collection. The ring is an estate piece from Cumberland, Maine and is in excellent condition. It is unmarked as to gold content but has been tested by Maine Gold and Silver to be 14K and is guaranteed as such. Because it is unmarked it dates prior to 1906 when the National Stamping Act required all gold and silver to be marked for metal content. The design which is a buttercup style also dates it to the late Victorian or Edwardian age when that design was popular. The sapphire is a deep blue color and measures 2.5 mm and appears to be a mine cut which fits the time period. The color is beautiful when a light shines on it. The ring is a size 8 on a mandrel and has been professionally cleaned. It weighs 2.2 grams on my jewelry scale. It you like the look of antique jewelry, the ring contains a fine quality sapphire. It would make a nice addition to your fine jewelry collection or a wonderful gift for a special person, especially one who has a September birthday!
