These jadeite earrings are truly lovely with great color and translucence. They are screw backs from the Art Deco era and are marked on the bottom Japan and Silver. They have a gold wash over the silver which is still in great condition. The screw backs work perfectly with the earrings being in outstanding condition, having been well cared for over the years. The silver used in Japan for jewelry has a minimum of .950 with some makers using a higher content. However, .950 is most commonly used for jewelry. The earrings measure 1 and 1/4" in length with the section that dangles measuring 7/8". The cabochon on the top of the earring measures 7mm with both of them being securely prong set. The weight of the earrings is 5 grams. If you love the early Art Deco jewelry and jadeite specifically, these earrings will make a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection. The dangling portion could be removed by your jeweler so that you could wear them as pierced; however, to the history teacher in me, they would then lose their authenticity.
