This 14K salmon brooch is a Maine estate piece, tested by Maine Gold and Silver and thus guaranteed to be 14K. It is an early Victorian era brooch with a deep salmon color and carved with flowers around the edges. It has the early Victorian C clasp as shown which is in good working, non-slip condition. The only part that is not 14K is the pin for the clasp. It appears to be non gold, a base metal of some sort, yet it appears all original to the piece. Perhaps it was for extra security when worn. There is no evidence of repair or replacement. The rest of the brooch tests as 14K gold. The brooch measures 2 and 1/4 " in width by 1 and 1/8" in width. In addition there are the three drops, the longest of which adds another 1 and 1/8" to the width. The two other smaller dangles measure 3/4" each. I have not polished the gold fittings, instead leaving the patina of age on the piece. It can be polished easily with a Sunshine cloth, however. A stunning antique brooch, Victorians believed that coral was essential to good health, so when you add this wonderful 14K antique brooch to your fine jewelry collection, I wish you good health!
