Here is a beautiful Victorian Etruscan Revival gold filled bangle in a crossover style. It is the earliest one in the collection of bangles that I have been listing. It has a safety chain which has been replaced at some point in its life (not by me). Actually that is a good thing as the original would have be permanently attached making it very difficult for anyone except a person with a very small hand to put it on. The chain now has a thumb catch so it can be unhooked allowing the bangle to open wide so that a large hand, mine included can put it on. The bangle is oval in shape with the interior measuring 2 and 1/8" along the oval side. This means that though the bangle will open very wide, it is suited for a person with a small to small/medium (like me) to wear comfortably. The front section that is so intricate measures 1/2" in width with the narrow back measuring 1/8". It opens with a rotating screw mechanism that works well, a much earlier type of clasp than the button type. The hinge is tight as well. There are no dents that I can see. There are some slight light black marks which I have highly magnified for you; It does not look like wear to the gold fill, more like years of accumulation of...? and probably could really be cleaned by a jeweler. I have done nothing to the bangle; it is just the way it came out of the collection. It is a lovely example of Victorian era Etruscan Revival jewelry from a Maine estate and would make a nice addition to your antique jewelry collection.
