A nice antique (circa third quarter, late 1800s) Architectural Finial. The finial is made of cast iron and is in the figural form of a Bald Eagle. The Eagle looks like it was a building, flag or fence finial. He has a great old weathered surface and just traces of gilt gold mainly on his wings. Overall dimensions are 16" wide x 9" high, he is heavy at just under 5 pounds. The Eagle is in very good overall condition with no chips or cracks in the cast iron. There is an in the making casting skip on the edge of one wing which was the way he was made, see closeup photo. The Bald Eagle would make a fine addition to an Americana, Primitive or Patriotic collection.
