A rare set of circa 1860s Gutta Percha, Thermaplast Picture Hooks, Tiebacks or Knobs. The Picture Hooks feature gilt gold highlights and threaded screw backs, each measures 2" long overall, the threaded shaft is 1 1/4" and the decorative front is 1 1/4" in diameter. Picture Hooks were used to hang up mirrors and pictures, early plaster walls were prone to cracks so a picture nail would be screwed into a molding and the items would be hung up with long decorative wires. All 9 Picture Hooks are in very good overall condition. The only thing to note is some wear to the gilt gold. They need to be cleaned, I didn't want to damage the gold so I will leave it to the new owner. Gutta Percha is fragile and prone to chipping, this set is quite rare. Please see my seller's list for other Gutta percha items all of which came from the same estate.
