A handsome set of circa 1920s bookends. The bookends are made of cast iron and have bronze medallions which are marked "Deus Protector Noster, Expression Necessary to Evolution". This is the logo of Emerson College of Boston, Massachusetts, the College was founded in 1880. Each bookends measures 6 1/4" high x 6 1/2" wide and 2 3/4" deep, they are very heavy at over 7 1/4 pounds making them perfect for large hard cover books. The bronze and cast iron bookends are in very good overall condition. They would be perfect on a desk or in a library.
