A lovely circa 1865 Parian Porcelain figurine of Evangeline. Evangeline was made by Copeland and is signed " S Terry SC 1869 Copyright Reserved Copeland". She is beautifully modeled with excellent attention to detail and has a serene expression on her face. The figurine might be based upon the epic poem "Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie" by American poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, which was published in 1847. The poem follows an Acadian girl named Evangeline and her search for her lost love Gabriel. The figurine is Big at 21 1/4" high. She is in very good overall condition. The only thing to note is one tiny in the making clay shrink line in the ribbon of her bonnet and 2 small chips on the base, see closeup photos. There is a long clay shrink line on the edge of her skirt which has darkened with age, see closeup photo. Evangeline would make a fine addition to an antique Parian Porcelain collection, she is beautiful.
