A nice set of 3 antique Royal Bavarian State Railway signs. The Royal Bavarian State Railways was founded in 1844, it grew into the second largest of the German state railways with a railway network of 8,526 kilometers (including the Palatinate Railway or Pfalzbahn) by the end of the First World War. The signs are enamel on metal and have decorative brass frames. The largest is marked "8812 Kgl. Bay. Sts. B." which is an abbreviation for "Königliche Bayerische Staats-Eisenbahnen or K.Bay.Sts.B." and the 2 smaller signs are "Zu" & "Offen" which translates from German "To Open". The largest measures 6" x 3 3/4" including the frame and the smaller pieces are 3 1/4" x 1 3/4". All of the pieces are in very good overall condition. The only thing to note are some hairlines in the enamel on the "ZU" sign, see photos. The signs would make an excellent addition to an antique Train or Railroad collection. All 3 signs are being offered for one price.
