A pair of Antique Girls, Young Ladies Books. The earlier on is from 1832, it has a leather cover and is titled The Young Ladies Class Book, a Selection of Reading in Prose and Verse by Ebenezer Bailey, Principle of the Young Ladies High Scholl Boston. There are chapters on behavior, morals, etc., the text has religious overtones. The Book measures 7 1/2" x 4 5/8" and has408 pages. It has toning throughout the pages; it is perfectly readable. There is a loss on the back cover and minor wear to the edges.

The second book is not dated but looks circa 1860s or so. It is titled, The Girl's Week-Day Book and was published in London by the Religious Tract Society. It has the same general contents as the early book. The Book measures 6 1/2" x 4 1/4" and has 236 gilt edge pages. It has toning throughout the pages; it is perfectly readable. There is wear to the edges and an ink spot on the embossed cover, see photos..


Both Books are being offered for one price. They offer a glimpse into the expected behavior of young ladies in the 1800s.
