Antique Print, The Honeysuckle Bower, Peter Paul Rubens

A very nice Antique (circa early 1900s) Print. The Sepia Print is base on the Old Masters Painting (circa 1609) titled "The Honeysuckle Bower", it depicts a self-portrait of the Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens and his first wife Isabella Brant. They wed on 3 October 1609, in St. Michael's Abbey, Antwerp. The painting depicts the couple seated in a bower of honeysuckle, they are surrounded by love and marriage symbolism: the honeysuckle and garden are both traditional symbols of love, and the holding of right hands (junctio dextrarum) represents union through marriage. The print is in the original wood frame complete with glass and a wood backboard and measures 10" wide x 12 5/8" high. It is in very good overall condition and would make a fine addition to any antique decor or a lovely Wedding Gift.
