A very nice Antique Circa mid 1800s Blown Glass Apothecary Jar. The Jar is hand blown from thin glass and has bubbles and specks of frit, early glass kilns were not as clean as those of today so you often find little black specks embedded in the glass from the glass blowing process. There are nice swirls and tiny air bubbles. This is a large Apothecary Jar at 11" high to the top of the stopper handle x 4 3/4" in diameter. It is in very good overall condition. The pontils were made by breaking off the glass rod while the glass was still hot, this created a rough pontil, see photos. There are traces of a powder inside the stopper which is hollow in the center. The Apothecary Jar would be perfect in a Drug Store or primitive glass collection.
