Offered for purchase is a beautiful Jean Pouyat (JP) Limoges "Mountain Ash" Design Creamer & Sugar Set (c.1905-1932) hand-painted/decorated in the US or Canada as part of the Arts & Crafts movement.
The design for this item is by Katherine E. Cherry and may be found in the May 1905 edition of Keramic Studio Magazine. Keramic Studio Magazine was a monthly publication for the amateur porcelain/china decorator which provided designs, detailed instructions on porcelain/china decorating, as well as articles and photographs of competitions and displays between various china decorating studios and clubs. The magazine was first published in May 1899 and continued into the late-1920’s. The set is in excellent condition… no chips, cracks or repairs, although there are some minor surface scratches and gold wear from age and use. The sugar bowl is approximately 5.25 inches long including the handles, 4.5 inches wide and 4.25 inches tall. The creamer is approximately is 4.25 inches long from the handle to spout, 3.5 inches wide and 3.25 inches tall. The bottom of each piece is marked as indicated in the pictures.
