Offered for purchase is a beautiful Moritz Zdekauer (MZ) & CT Altwasser Austria Floral Design Teapot, Creamer & Sugar Set (Signed "H. Dietz"/c.1912-1920) hand-painted/decorated in the US or Canada as part of the Arts & Crafts movement.
The pattern for the design of the set is by Winifred S. Gettamy and may be found in the September 1912 issue of Keramic Studio Magazine. A photo of the page is included in this listing. Keramic Studio Magazine was a monthly publication for the amateur porcelain/china decorator which provided designs, detailed instructions on porcelain/china decorating, as well as articles and photographs of competitions and displays between various china decorating studios and clubs. The magazine was first published in May 1899 and continued into the late-1920’s.
The set is in excellent condition… no chips, cracks or repairs, although there are some minor surface scratches and wear from age and use and a fleabite on the edge of the teapot’s spout (the set is priced accordingly). The tea pot is 4 inches tall and 6.5 inches in diameter from handle to spout. The sugar bowl is 4.5 inches in diameter including the handles and 3 inches tall. The creamer is 2.5 inches tall and 4.25 inches in diameter including the handle. The bottom of each piece is marked as indicated in the pictures.
Please note: Most of our photos are taken with a blue background which may make light colors and reflective surfaces appear blue or with a blue tint. Should you have any questions regarding the colors of our items, please ask for clarification.
