Offered for purchase is a beautiful Jean Pouyat (JP) Limoges Arts & Crafts Platinum, Black & Lustre Grape Motif Tankard/Mug (c.1903-1932). The design for this item is by Sara Wood-Safford and my be found in the November 1903 Supplement to Keramic Studio Magazine. Keramic Studio Magazine was a monthly publication for the amateur porcelain/china decorator which provided designs, detailed instructions on porcelain/china decorating, as well as articles and photographs of competitions and displays between various china decorating studios and clubs. The magazine was first published in May 1899 and continued into the late-1920’s. We can provide photocopies of the page from the publication with the design of this item with your purchase if specifically requested.
The tankard is in excellent condition… no chips, cracks or repairs, although there are some surface scratches and wear from age and use. The mug is approximately 5.5 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter including the handle. The bottom is marked as indicated in the pictures.
