Offered for purchase is a beautiful Jean Pouyat (JP) Limoges "Bittersweet Motif" Cider Pitcher (Signed "M.D.F."/c.1916-1932) hand-painted/decorated in the US or Canada as part of the Arts & Crafts movement.
The design for this pitcher is by Florence R. Weisskopf and may be found in the January 1916 edition of Keramic Studio Magazine. Keramic Studio Magazine was a monthly publication for the amateur porcelain/china decorator which provided designs, detailed instructions on porcelain/china decorating, as well as articles and photographs of competitions and displays between various china decorating studios and clubs. The magazine was first published in May 1899 and continued into the late-1920’s. We can provide photocopies of the page from the publication with the design of this item with your purchase if specifically requested.
The pitcher is in excellent condition... no chips, cracks or repairs, although there are some surface scratches and wear from age and use. The pitcher is approximately 5.25 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter from handle to spout. The bottom is marked as indicated in the pictures.
