Offered for purchase is a beautiful Bavaria Arts & Crafts Egyptian Revival Scarab Motif Pitcher (c1910-1930). The design for this item is by Charles Babcock and may be found in the October 1908 issue of Keramic Studio Magazine. Keramic Studio Magazine was a monthly publication for the amateur porcelain/china decorator which provided designs, detailed instructions on porcelain/china decorating, as well as articles and photographs of competitions and displays between various china decorating studios and clubs. The magazine was first published in May 1899 and continued into the late-1920’s. We can provide photocopies of the page from the publication with the design of this item with your purchase if specifically requested.
The pitcher is in excellent condition... no chips, cracks or repairs, although there are some surface scratches, wear from age and use, and chips to the base which do not show when sitting on a surface. The pitcher is approximately 7 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter at the widest. The bottom is marked as indicated in the pictures.
