Offered for purchase is a beautiful Paroutaud Freres (P&P) Limoges Arts & Crafts "Japanese Tomato Berry" Design Bowl (Signed "M. Diebel"/c.1913-1920) hand-painted/decorated in the US or Canada as part of the Arts & Crafts movement.
The design for this item is by Drusilla Paist and may be found in the August 1913 edition of Keramic Studio Magazine. Keramic Studio Magazine was a monthly publication for the amateur porcelain/china decorator which provided designs, detailed instructions on porcelain/china decorating, as well as articles and photographs of competitions and displays between various china decorating studios and clubs. The magazine was first published in May 1899 and continued into the late-1920’s. We can provide photocopies of the page from the publication with the design of this item with your purchase if specifically requested.
The bowl is in excellent condition... no chips, cracks or repairs, although there is some surface wear from age and use. There are three small glazing error spots on the interior of the bowl where the glaze did not cover, but that does not distract from the beauty and artistry of this dish. The dish is 2.75 inches tall and 5.5 inches in diameter. The bottom is marked as indicated in the pictures.
