This is an absolutely gorgeous vintage miniature ornate frame with a stunning yet understated neoclassical style figural painting on silk framed behind the glass front. The frame is gold gilt metal with ornate styling and delicate details. Behind the glass front is an amazing and detailed figural painting of two women draped in flowing robes and fabric, with delicate styling and feminine mannerisms. They lounge at the edge of a lagoon, approached by two graceful white swans and surrounded by lush green foliage and glittering water. The painting is done on silk fabric, giving an ethereal, rich quality to the piece.
The back of the frame features an original NRA (National Recovery Administration) Picture Frame Authority label, which means it was sold between 1933-1935 -- the only two years in which FDR's New Deal era NRA was in place, which sought to eliminate "cut throat competition" by bringing industry, labor, and government together to create codes of "fair practices" and set prices.
This piece is in good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. It has a bit of damage/discoloration tot the painting itself under the glass front, as visible in the photo set. The frame itself has no major cosmetic flaws, though the back of the frame is a bit loose and has some age-appropriate cosmetic flaws.
It measures 6 inches wide and 8 inches long.
