This is a large vintage oil on board painting from the mid-century (c. 1950s) era in the modernist style. It features geometric gestures and a figural focus, with cool grey-blue tones and stripes of primary colors. The painting utilizes a technique that creates a marbled/drip effect in the background, providing texture and variation to the cool-toned background. There are sharp, bright lines and modified-triangle shapes that intersect in the middle third of the piece, bolstering the image of the geometric figure. The figure stands with arms and legs spread, a purple and gradient-blue body standing bright, the focus of the piece. In the bottom-right corner the artist's name "Irie" is signed.
This painting is in good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Because it is on board, there is expected wear to the wood, namely a few small areas of chipping at the bottom right corner and the left edge of the piece. Overall is it very strong and in good condition. There is minimal paint loss. Also a good cleaning would surely brighten up this unique painting.
The board measures 47 3/4 inches wide, and 36 1/4 inches tall.
