This is a stunning, collectible, sparkling vintage 1950s Mexican tourist souvenir wrap circle skirt. It is 100% cotton fabric in a chambray sort of textile, in a pale, speckled sky blue. The skirt is hand-painted with a gorgeous, evocative series of matador bullfighting scenes, replicated on the front and back, and detailed with amazing hand-sewn sequins in all colors complementing the scene and the movement of the skirt. These skirts are a fun, nostalgic novelty with playful images and joyful design. The piece is a wrap style, so it fastens with hook and eye closures first, and then each side wraps to meet in the back and ties in a bow.
The skirt is in excellent vintage condition with some age-appropriate wear. One of the hooks at the hook and eye is a bit loose and could use reinforcing. The skirt has a few instances of very minor staining/discoloration, pictured in some close ups -- none are very large, but are noticeable under scrutiny. They are very pale rust brown, and have the benefit of getting lost in the texture and volume of the skirt, but are worth mentioning. One instance is in the center top on the back side of the skirt, the other is in essentially the same area on the front of the skirt.
This skirt measures approx. a 28 inch waist (taken flat and doubled.) The skirt measures 30 inches in length from waist to hemline.
